Angry Asian Man
3/17/11 || 7:30PM
Phil Yu by day, “Angry Asian Man” by night. His superpower? An eye for detecting racism all around. The fanatic blogger behind AngryAsianMan.com will be coming to Penn to speak about stereotypes and issues that Asian Americans face in America’s world of popular culture, mass media and in our everyday lives. From the damaging stereotypes of the Asian whiz kid to the kung-fu fighting foreigners, Phil will be speaking about the highs and lows of the Asian American history, both on screen and off. How far have Asian Americans come along, and how far is there to go?
Sponsored by SPEC Connaissance, the Asian American Studies Program, and the Pan-Asian American Community House.
Voices for Japan Fundraiser
In light of the recent Japanese earthquake and tsunami, Sigma Psi Zeta Sorority has compiled musical tracks from eight of your favorite a cappella groups at Penn into Music CDs that you can enjoy, while your purchase goes directly to aid the Japanese victims in the world’s costliest natural disaster in history.
Featuring prestigious performing groups such as Penn Masala, PennYo, Off the Beats and Penn Counterparts among others, our CDs will be sold for $10 while stocks last! All proceeds from your purchase will go directly to Penn Japan Relief Fund.
The performing arts group that have generously contributed their musical tracks include: Penn Counterparts, Dischord, Off the Beat, Penn Glee Club, Penn Masala, PennSori, PennYo, and Quaker Notes
Our CD project would not be successful without the eight amazingly talented and generous Penn a cappella groups, as well as the support of U Penn Japan Relief Fund and Japan Student Association!
